If you're looking for things to do during the school holidays in Tallinn, and you've already tried the usual entertainment options, curling can offer an exciting change of pace. This ice sport combines movement, precision, and strategic thinking. Best of all, you don't need to buy special equipment or join a training group right away to try it for the first time.
What is curling?
Curling is an ice sport in which players slide special granite stones across the ice toward a target. The aim is to get their team’s stones as close as possible to the center of the target. Other players can sweep the ice in front of the stones with special brushes to influence their movement.
Curling is not just about physical strength. Equally important are accuracy, concentration, teamwork and tactics. The ability to skate is not a prerequisite for trying this sport.
Who is the free trial session suitable for?
According to the official Tallinn event information, the trial sessions are intended for young people aged at least 12 years. They are suitable for those who want to stay active during the school holidays, try something new with friends or simply find out what curling is really like.

What should I bring to the training session?
The organizer recommends bringing warm sportswear, gloves and a water bottle. It is cold in the ice rink, and comfortable clothing makes it easier to move around. You do not need to bring any curling equipment.
Why try curling during the school holidays?
Curling is not as common a choice in Estonia as swimming, football or ice skating. That’s exactly why a free trial session can be a great opportunity to discover a new hobby. In addition to physical activity, young people can practise making decisions together, setting goals and concentrating.
If a child aged 12 or older wants to try something different, it’s worth considering this opportunity. The three announced dates let you choose a day that fits your school holiday plans, if places are still available.
